My ehome

OK - I am 1st!

The ehome vision................................................

My ehome configuration goes back 7+ years!
My 1st touch screen was a AMD 486-50mhz with 32meg of RAM and a 2gig HD Its not HA that drove eHome. That was always 2nd for me. That was the easy part. My eHome was a platform... A platform that let you deploy inexpensive computes (thats why i created eHome in VB6) all over your home and they talk to each other and share content (Audio, video, informations) and are SO easy to use that grandma (or manny) could use them with NO training.

Thats eHome for me!

ehome for me today................................. My Stuff!

1 - laptop, programming. (Turon Dual cores, 1gig RAM, 100gig HD)
Development computer. Runs everything but basically it is the eHome administrator. I add content from this computer. (rip DVD and CD's) and manage all eHome content (audio and video) volumes from here. Also modify all eHome network configs. And... restart all eHome computers from here. One stop shopping!

2 - laptop computer (AMD Seleron 3000, 768meg RAM, 40gig HD)
running eHome Home server, Powerhome and a eHome Video server. NO client

3 - NAS (NSLU2-Linux, Intel XScale @266Mhx, 32meg RAM, 220gig HD)
Its Linux! Just ehome content - storage (Audio and video)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSLU2

4 - Kitchen touch screen (Intel P3-500, 128meg, 5gig HD)
Running Office, Kitchen, Audio, Video, Internet and HA
(Kitchen timers are the most used!!! Some of the newer video in the H264 codec format are too slow. Put hey? its a P3-500)

5 - TV computer. (AMD XP2200, 256meg, 500gig RAID 5)
Running eHome client on a 40in wide screen with only the Audio and Video options. (connects to the TV with $60 scan converter) Also hosts LOTS of content (Audio and Video) that ALL other eHome computers see. (The TV part of this is due to be replace by a hacked Neoware...)

6 - Pocket PC (Axim X30, wireless )
Running eHome pocket PC controller to control the TV.

7 - Sons computer (Intel P4 Celeron @1800mhz, 512meg, 80gig HD)
Sons computer. he has NO idea (he is only 10!) that 15gig of music is shared to eHome. (This is REAL - Distributed content)

I only have a few HA devices. All X-10 (I am in Europe) My Controller is a converted CM11 so as to work at 220v.

Excellent. I will gather together my setup and screenshots and post this weekend.

I need to address my current problem which is that my file server, powerhome server, eHome server, Video and Audio server are all on the same system hooked up to my TV.

It is a 5 year old AMD but I was amazed that with a cheap graphics card ($30) I was able to have it run full screen HD video over DVI to my TV. Before the card it struggled.

I have an old P3 unused and I also have a 4 running my touchscreen. i should really have the P3 run the screen and use the P4 as my server for everything other than video and audio.
