Hehe! There was no devilish grin, so I had to go with that emoticon!

Why, general-purpose sliders, of course!

Well, right off the bat: audio volume, progress bars, and custom light controls. I can likely come up with more when I am more awake. :)

Only you Tony... Only you.

I have been doing a big re-think on the screen designer. While it works now (minus the Insteon group bug) I really want to expand its use to other devices. IE: Windows CE (and I even wonder if in 2 years there will NOT be any CE devices as small touch screens laptops are getting down in the $300-$400 range) and the new webtops (Linux)

Now its just how to figure out how to do that all in one fell swoop! Suggestions??????????????

JavaScript? Python? Something yet-to-be-developed?

Seems like you would need something cross-platform.

Exactly!

Cross platform is what I have been looking at these last 6 months. Python? Looked at IDE's in the past few days. Found a good one but cost's big $$$. But in the end Python running graphics is very heavy on the procs and memory. Java? Way to much work and the same problems in memory and proc power and HTML - Ajax - NET V2 really is crap for a full blown touch screen application.

Problem though in Linux is depends on the desktop. If you run KDE then it wont work in Gnome. (at least that is how I understand it at this point)

Still searching.

Thens there is Realbasic... Nice cross platform stuff. Very NICE!

http://www.realsoftware.com/products/index.php

And at $500 its a bit of money.
And then you see they try and f-you for everything... (sorry for the anger)

Example. There native DB support is sqLite. Public Domain!!! OK, no problem but they only give you single users support.
http://www.sqlite.org/ It supports multi user reads and does file locking for writes natively!!!

Here is there price list for multi user support...

New Licenses delivered via email
One server $500
Five Servers $2,000 ($400 each)
Ten Servers $3,000 ($300 each)
Unlimited Servers $9,000/year

Thats allot of $$$$!!!!!
Now they have a very good product but its enterprise only...

OK... I will stop ranting... :D
