Can anyone say iPod?

Post here with ideas and thoughts of how to make the eHome software better

Well, apple doesnt allow that from what I understand. Nonetheless, it is just stored on the ipod as a regular thumbdrive, albeit with weird file names.

There would be no DRM to bypass unless the content were to be pirated purchased content, which isnt what I'm advocating here...

So anyways, this is something for later... for now playing would be kickass! A user could always make a plugin not associated with ehome itself to do this...

My wife and I also have zunes.. I happen to work at the company that made the zune.. ;) so I just sent email requesting information about how to program against it. We'll see what happens..

Here are some links i found... I think the VB6 stuff just treats the ipod like a drive.. i would rather find API stuff..

Ipod program in Python
http://shuffle-db.sourceforge.net/

Winamp plugin to read Ipod data (Could it be installed and just used by EHome via Winamp? Not much extra coding for Jake!?!!?)
http://www.mlipod.com/index.php (NOTE!!!! Website states this: iPod support is built into Winamp version 5.2 and above) Perhaps Winamp already has our solution? This winamp plugin though might have a dll that could be used

(MAC) Libgpod is a C++ library that can talk to the IPOD. The SourceForge forum has talk of getting someone to do win32 port
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gtkpod/

(LINUX) Mounts your IPOD as a directory
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fusepod/

Basic VB6 code to discover IPOD (dont know about ipod compatability..)
http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/sc ... 3&lngWId=1

VB6 iPod file ripper. Could be used as sample (comments make it sound incomplete)
http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/sc ... 6&lngWId=1

VB6 Full iPOD UI Clone - might have good code for connecting to ipod and pulling data
http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/sc ... 1&lngWId=1

VB6 iPod program (mentions it has code from somewhere they don't remember, so it might have what you're looking for)

I myself never figured out the fascination with the ipods.
I used to have a MP3 CD player in my car (when I had a car.. ;) ) and 1 CD held about 550+ songs. I used to change the CD about every 4-6 months and found that about 250 songs really never changed. So for me I think 2-4gig of memory would be plenty for anything on the go.

But then again, maybe I am just old. WAIT!!! I am old!!!!

You and me both.
I listen to FM more than anything else when out of the house. At hm I tune the digital cable to old people music via toucscreen/PH/IR combination.

I found I would listen to talk AM radio in the car or the news. I really need to investigate internet radio for eHome.
