make my own music selection screen?

Well, ask how to?

make my own music selection screen?

Postby ficklma1 on Tue Oct 07, 2008 12:17 am

Hi folks,

Haven't purchased this program, yet. I need to understand how customizable the menu system is. I've been a long time user of xLobby and have successfully integrated PowerHome/Insteon into it. However, I'd like to begin working on a new system and since this one has some unique abilities, thought I'd give it a try.

Can you tell me if the top menu can be customized?

TonyNo, I've been following your threads for a while over at the PowerHome site and I noticed you have to pretty snazzy looking screens, especially around the music selection area. Would you mind sharing? I'd like to reverse engineer with your examples if possible.

Thanks and I look forward to diving in.

Greetings! Welcome!

JakeBullet is out traveling to his new home in Washington State right now. That is about 18 hours of travel. I'm unsure of exactly when he'll arrive.

But as Tony will tell you JakeBullet is VERY open to taking custom requests.

ficklma, regarding the music selection, anything in particular? Let's start small and build up.

Hi,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Tony, I've looked over your screens in the directory that you posted here on this site. That's what I was refering to in my original message. What I'm wondering is, can I make my own screen to show the music cover art? In other words, if I don't like the layout of the music selection screen that's delivered under one of the themes, can I make my own. What screen object do I use to display the cover art, etc.
For example: I'd like to have a single row of cover art with say about 5 to 7 covers showing at once. Then with a left and right button to scroll throught the covers. Ideally I'd like to use an iPhone/iPod touch method to swipe the covers back and forth to move through the music library. Is any of this possible?

Thanks everyone.

You may want to check out the built-in music functionality first. Jake can help with that as I have not dug into it too much.

I don't think replicating Apple's Cover Flow would be possible, unless you used the JavaScript version floating around with a web browser object.

My version is tuned to my listening style, which is all at once. I put every track I have in one playlist and shuffle that baby! :D

I don't think it would be too hard to add. If a special template was added for the screen designer, made for the music screen, then you could just reposition the album locations, set the size, move the page up\down buttons to the side, and boom, you have it done.

The system as a whole doesn't support animation yet. But it does have the mouse gestures (swipping) already.

I'd help with that template. Just let me know.

I'm not really looking for the cover flow animation, albeit that would be really cool! I'm really looking for how to create a custom music view, probably a single line cover view with flat non-animated covers that I could use the swiping gesture technique.

Having issues with my client initializing - will post under general.
