Internet Radio

Well, ask how to?

Internet Radio

Ok,I appologise if this is listed somewhere else but could not find anything. Its finally gone from test / beta (in a cupboard) to a fully fledged ELO touchscreen on the Kitchin / dining room wall (had to finish refurbing the house first), got it up and running with the PC linked into the mini system for music.

So, in order to max the WAF (as she is away this weekend) I have music on the server as well as video.

I have now started looking at Internet radio. Using the web browser you can go to a station such as http://www.virginradion.com (big station in the UK) or even the BBC. If you go via there websites they try and run a bespoke player which in a PC would bring up a pop up, this does not work in the ehome browser. I have found another site http://www.livemusic.eu/uk.html which lists all the stations and the links for either WMP or Winamp. So I click on virgin, it fired up in winamp, but it is playing in the background, so you have to come out of ehome to kill it. I thought about running IE as an EXE from the main menu. Wondered if anyone had tried doing internet radio or had any ideas on the best way forward

Oh and one other little niggle I found, in the web brower if you go to say google, then try and use the keyboard it always defualts to the web address so you cant fill in the serach! Or is it me?

And powerhome is to be installed in the coming week, so I have been watching the forum with interest.

Cheers.

Wow, that really put winamp in a spin, try to run an album in audio and it just defaulted to the radio station web address and started that again, looked at winamp and it had put the album next in the playlist. shutdown winamp and tried again, same, so restarted the audio server and winamp an it works ok, well is as I type this!

And I have broken office, it just gives *busy* in the top left and wont load.

Sorry, it has been working great until I went for the "go live" - the only thing on my list was more ram and powerhome - I have to play with things thats my trouble.

Hows mainland Europe? Cold and very windy here in UK.

OK mintcake.
Your internet radio.

THIS CODE WILL BE IN THE RELEASE I POST LATER TONIGHT.
Please test and let me know.

** How to add content **
I went to http://www.winamp.com/media/radio
or
http://www.shoutcast.com/

I click on a link
and just save it.

Now this file replaces the the normal MP3 files. So where ever your content is...
say d drive. in d:\ehome\audio
create a folder (called UK headbanger) or what ever type of music it is :)
and copy the just downloaded file to this folder.

Run the Admin and select that folder
and edit genre and such and click the Inet radio check box

We will automate this more in a future release
